Video: Beach Soaring with the Libelle

On the road to La Muela (Spain) , I did a stop in Tarragone, south of Barcelona. I flew 1 hour on the beach with the Libelle with almost no wind but however some lift. Great soaring session, with a great plane !

Shinto from Aer-o-tec

The shinto is the new F3B/F3F flagship of Aerotec (germany) for 2014. It has been designed by Stefan Eider in collaboration with Max Steidle. The manufacturing is done by the well known Vladimir Model. Philippe Lanes, my team mates, received on of the first exemplar, and used it sucessfully during the first french league contest in Panat and also in La Muela. It is not necessary to say that the moulding quality is just awesome, using the latest fabric development like the carboline. Acording to Philippe, the plane is very easy, light and nervous on the ailerons, and as soon as it gets its speed is very foregiving and difficult to slow down. You can find more information about the shinto on Aerotec's website and also on Vladimir's website

Below is a video filmed during our team practice in Séderon in the Southern Alps.

Sederon F3F league contest

Séderon is located in the southern french Alps. 30+ pilots entered the contest, which makes it a very popular contest every year.

On saturday, we have been able to do 4 rounds in growing conditions. Best time of the day, and of the whole contest was 36s by thomas Delarbre with his Stinger. On sunday, after the rain cleared around midday, we could start and manage 2 extra rounds in very variable conditions with cross wind, and strong thermals time to time. French F3F team 2014 took the 3 first places (1/ Pierre Rondel, 2/ Frederic Hours, 3/ Philippe Lanes) and the junior pilot Lucas Kugler finishes 10th.

You will find below the video about the league contest of Séderon (southern french Alps). A big thanks to the organisers for the friendly spirit competition.

Easystar 2 version RR de Multiplex ...  Toujours un coup d’avance !
Introduction

Image
Article paru dans Modèle Magazine (Mars 2014)

Introduction

Needle 115 V-Tail

For few days already, I have finished the V-tail fuselage of the Needle 115 and flying with it. In fact it uses the short fuselage and the tails of the Neddle 124. Flying weight 2250gr, CoG 93mm like the cross tail fuselage.
For comparison, my second light crosstail N115 fuselage is 2200g, so 50gr less. But the weight distribution is not the same and is in favor of the V-tail version.
Maiden occured at the local slope with light conditions, so it was hardly difficult to see any difference.
However last week-end, we had a super good flying session at Puy de Manse with 13 to 16 m/s of wind.
It was the opportunity to test the V-tail version against the crosstail version.
About the same empty flying weight, 2250gr for the V-tail, 2200gr for the crosstail, 1.4kg of ballast, same CG, same wing settings (flap, reflex, snapflaps). It was just a matter of swapping the wings from one fuselage to another. Therefore I flew alternatively the V-Tail and the crosstail version of the Needle 115 all …
